Translation of the book “Financial Management”

Abstract

The present project deals with the translation of the book “Financial management” based on House’s theory. The factor which makes this book valuable to translate is the relative need of relevant and target  scientific communities for its Persian version, with the field of accounting and management standing to gain more tangibly from this undertaking. The writer of this book provides readers with detailed information about finance and finance related areas with a simple language, and the translation puts a comprehensive source of information at the students’ disposal. It should be noted that before deciding to translate in a particular field, it is a necessity to get acquainted with its specialized vocabulary, the lack of which can lead to many problems. Similarly, in this project, becoming familiar with those specialized words was a priority for the translator. What is of vital importance is the fact that the translator, in translation of scientific texts, must be loyal to the original text and transfer the whole information of the source text, without much loss of meaning, to the target. Considering the results of this project, the overt translation strategy proposed by House makes it possible to go through with this principle. The other important point is that translation is an art and not merely a science and the process of finding equivalents and encountering with specialized and difficult words lies at the top of the list of translators’ challenges. This is a significant and perpetual challenge and a ceaselessly important issue that translators should know will accompany their theoretical and practical ventures for all time.
