Investigating the Readability of Iranian High School English Textbooks Based on Different Formulae

Abstract

The present study was performed to examine the readability of Iranian high school English textbooks regarding different textbook analysis, textbook readability levels, the fields of textbook analysis. With regard to the information collected in the literature, the survey took into consideration the readability levels of English textbooks from the first grade to fourth grade.

Results from the study indicated that while utilized appropriately, readability formulas provide a consideration at textbooks. The outcomes of this study will assist English textbook writers to observe that some modifications require to be made in the way their textbooks are written. For this reason, English textbooks require to be more interesting to the readers. This study concludes with recommendations for teachers and researchers.
